Our hospital provides vital services to Banbury's growing population We're about to lose those services. What are YOU going to do about it? Come to the rally Come to the public consultation meeting Sign the petition What else can you contribute? Pledge your support Any ideas?
Show your support at the Rally Come to our protest rally in People's Park on Sunday 18 June from 3 - 5pm, and send the message to the John Radcliffe Trust and the government - "Banbury will accept no cuts" Speakers - Campaigner Dr Peter Fisher Tony Baldry MP Tim Boswell MP Unison representative Mark Ladbroke Barry Woods from CDC and members of the public who wish to speak of their experiences Contrary to a report in a local paper, there are plenty of women campaigning against the cuts (half of our committee is female). Our speakers are simply the most influential and relevant speakers, irrespective of gender. Health Minister Patricia Hewitt was invited - but is not expected to attend. Show your support again at the Consultation Meeting Come to the Public Consultation Meeting on Thursday 6th July, at 6.30pm at St Mary's Church, Banbury (This is a revised date and venue - they cancelled the original meeting). The Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Trust have to organise this meeting, to demonstrate that there has been public consultation. Members of the public are entitled to speak, and the ORH Trust has to respond. There is a 90 day period for consultation, which began on 6th June. We felt it would be helpful if people could actually get hold of the consultation document, so we're going to publish it here shortly. Sign the petition All the Oxfordshire MPs are lobbying parliament for fair funding for Oxfordshire. You can sign online at Tony Baldry's website, www.save-our-services.com (although some people have had problems with this), or you can download the petition here, sign it and send it to: Tony Baldry MP, London, SW1A 0AA What skills can you contribute to the campaign? Can you sign a petition? Can you write a letter? Can you offer printing services? Can you supply banners or signs? Can you lend us a sound system? Can you translate this site into Polish, Hindi, or any other language widely spoken in Banbury to help us spread the message further? Can you shake a bucket? Have you got a story so moving it will cause the silent majority to rise up in protest against the cuts? Are you someone fighting the same fight in Warwickshire, Northamptonshire or further afield? Let us know what you are doing. If you are one of the thousands of people the Horton has been there for, or if you ever expect to use it in the future - it is your duty to do something before the heart is ripped out of our hospital. You can do something. I did. I wasn't part of the campaign the day the story broke, but it made me so angry I offered to create a website for the campaign - and here it is. So what can you offer? Pledge your support It's possible that we could raise enough money to safeguard all the jobs and services that are threatened in Banbury. We're not going to do that at the moment because we're pursuing other approaches, and we need to do legal groundwork to ensure that any money raised wouldn't just be swallowed up into the general JR pot of funds. But we'd be interested to know how much money we might raise if we did go down that route. To give you an idea, if 15,000 people contributed £5 a month by standing order, we'd raise enough money to safeguard the threatened services for a year. How much are these services worth to you? Any ideas? If you have any ideas about what what we should, please contact us giving a phone number if appropriate Thank you *This article has been reproduced from the KeeptheHortonGeneral campaign website. |
